The Richardson's Adventures

Our holiday to Western Australia was initiated from the idea of taking our boys on a extended holiday prior to starting school. We have been camping in tent's, and more recently we had a camper trailer for 3 years. While the camper trailer served us well ( over 30 camping trips ), we have upgraded to our off road caravan. The caravan makes life easier for the overnight stay, quick pack up, and it also has air conditioning. Our holidays have been booked for 2 1/2 years and we have been planning in some sort of fashion since. We have upgraded the car to give hassle free motoring, not to mention the great V8 rumble.

Brusselton to Augusta 19th May

Cape Leeuwin lighthouse
Today we drove down from Brusselton to see the lighthouse at Cape Leeuwin.  Unfortunately the lighthouse was closed.  Therefore we were unable to climb the lighthouse due to refurbishment, but were able to explore around the lighthouse.

Two oceans meet
The view from the lighthouse apparently gives you a distinct directions where the two oceans (Indian and Southern) meet.

Water Wheel
The historical water wheel is now calcified, but you can see the wetlands in the background.

         Miss Flinders

All aboard
After the lighthouse we drove back into Augusta and went on a local skippers ferry, for a two hour cruise up Flinders bay.

Bird watching

Cheese
Travelling back from Augusta we headed just outside Brusselton to the Old Chedder Cheese Company. The boys were having so much fun testing all the cheeses available.  They had their little toothpicks and were going back for seconds.  Afternoon tea was a success for the boys appetite and free!
