The Richardson's Adventures

Our holiday to Western Australia was initiated from the idea of taking our boys on a extended holiday prior to starting school. We have been camping in tent's, and more recently we had a camper trailer for 3 years. While the camper trailer served us well ( over 30 camping trips ), we have upgraded to our off road caravan. The caravan makes life easier for the overnight stay, quick pack up, and it also has air conditioning. Our holidays have been booked for 2 1/2 years and we have been planning in some sort of fashion since. We have upgraded the car to give hassle free motoring, not to mention the great V8 rumble.

Brusselton 20th May

Cape Naturaliste
We drove from Busselton, passed Eagle Bay to Cape Naturaliste.  We arrived at the lighthouse with windy, wild and raining conditions.  Touring the lighthouse we put on our jumpers and placed our raincoats on top.  We almost lost Zachary to the treacherous conditions, as he almost blew out of my hands.  Touring inside the lighthouse, the weather forecast showed 25knots winds, gusting to 48knots (~50 to 100 kmph) hazardous conditions outside.  CRAZY!!

Ngilgi Cave
Leaving Cape Naturaliste we drove to Ngilgi Caves,  in Yallingup.  The boys experienced their first cave climb.  This particular cave descends to 35 metres below ground.  The Ngilgi Caves have this fantastic little tunnel of approximately 5 metres in length the children can explore.  Steven took the boys through the first time then I took them through the second time.  I have no idea how Steven fitted through this tunnel.  The boys were game enough to keep going back through the tunnel without Steven and I venturing in ourselves.  We ventured down into the cave twice keeping in mind some of the steps Zachary climbed, were half the size of him.

The Margaret River Chocolate Co.
Leaving the caves the boys were exhausted and fell asleep in the car.  We headed for the chocolate factory only to detour to the Bootleg brewery.  Double whammy for Steven, as the kids were asleep in the car,  I babysat, whilst Steven tested the local brew (or should I say, drunk at the local brewery) and then I was nominated driver.

Zachary and the chocolate factory
Zachary always manages around the 2pm mark to do a hissy fit.  I'm not talking about a little protest.  I'm talking about a blood curdling, siren squealing, bring down the house, attention on ME everyone.  So, we're all in this well packed chocolate factory, and the buzzer goes and Zachary's on the money for timing.  Steven throws him under the arm like a rugby ball in a rugby match and zips through the crowds with this whaling child -  ALL EYES ON STEVEN - Steven pipes up and tells everyone who is now focused on this screaming child, "Chocolate is EVIL, this is what it will do to you"!

Bring on the pimples
*** Jacob and I are still sitting in the dining room of the chocolate factory, only to be greeted by Steven and Saint Zachary (as Steven had forgotten the car keys).  With Zachary having calmed down,  we decided to continue with our original plans and make a selection at the counter and have this massive choc feast and a cuppa for afternoon tea.

The Margaret River Dairy Co
Finishing the day with the Margaret River Dairy Co, more free cheese to feed to the boys. (We do buy the local produce).  We then finished the day with a few vineyards. Hiccup!
