The Richardson's Adventures

Our holiday to Western Australia was initiated from the idea of taking our boys on a extended holiday prior to starting school. We have been camping in tent's, and more recently we had a camper trailer for 3 years. While the camper trailer served us well ( over 30 camping trips ), we have upgraded to our off road caravan. The caravan makes life easier for the overnight stay, quick pack up, and it also has air conditioning. Our holidays have been booked for 2 1/2 years and we have been planning in some sort of fashion since. We have upgraded the car to give hassle free motoring, not to mention the great V8 rumble.

80 Mile Beach (day IV)

The Richos Phone Home
We have been out of internet and phone range just short of two weeks.  We all went up to the local phone booth and telephoned our "exclusive dinner group" as they were meeting at lunch time today.  The theme for the dinner group was a carnivorous meat feast.  Steven hopes you saved some left overs and Jen said, "Shame I wasn't there".

80 Mile Beach Markets
Jen took Jacob to the 80 Mile Beach Markets.  Anyone could have a stall provided you weren't selling beach shells, food and you donated something to the Royal Flying Doctors Service (RFDS).  There was a book store, lotions and potions, fish and tackle, crafty tea towels/ hand towels, clothes, DVDs, jewellery.  There was a raffle which did a caravan sweep and collected non perishable items that allowed a wheel barrow load of food donated for the raffle from last Sunday spill into a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize draw today.  The markets raised ~ $670 for the RFDS.  I was impressed considering we're in the middle of no where.

Wind farm
The couple living in the caravan behind the boys were lovely.  They loved collecting shells and have been coming to 80 Mile Beach for more than fifteen years.  They gave Jen some fabulous books on shell collecting to look at and then gave us some pretty BIG and awesome shells to keep.  Jen made some scones the next day and shared them with the couple who in turn bought these wind mills from the markets for the boys.

Trying to get internet access
Steven and I joked how we live in a 1st world country and whilst travelling around our own country, we can't get phone or internet access.  With the experience of the phone booth this morning and having that sense of stepping back in time, we thought we could try our luck with our own wind farm to get internet access.  (I'm not talking about Steven's wind either).
