The Richardson's Adventures

Our holiday to Western Australia was initiated from the idea of taking our boys on a extended holiday prior to starting school. We have been camping in tent's, and more recently we had a camper trailer for 3 years. While the camper trailer served us well ( over 30 camping trips ), we have upgraded to our off road caravan. The caravan makes life easier for the overnight stay, quick pack up, and it also has air conditioning. Our holidays have been booked for 2 1/2 years and we have been planning in some sort of fashion since. We have upgraded the car to give hassle free motoring, not to mention the great V8 rumble.

The boys finally had Dad locked in the goal cell, literally!!  I had to unbolt the latch to release him. (Steven couldn't fit his hand through the bars to unbolt the latch).

Robe River Free Camp

Bottom bunk
The boys are always climbing into Mum and Dad's bed.  After this photo was taken we all climbed into Zachary's bottom bunk (bed).  Loads of squealing and laughter happening.

Robe River
Leaving Exmouth we camped over night beside the Robe River which is in the Camps (5) book.  As we pulled in, I took Jacob and Zachary over to explore the river.  Coming back we spotted a better place to pull up camp.  I waved to Steven to bring the caravan over and in doing so, I was almost run over by a man and his dog who heard me yelling out to Steven to bring the caravan over here.
(Free Camp Rage)!!  I had to RESTRAIN Steven.

Our free camp
The boys were disappointed not to have the camp site we spotted, so much so that they cried.  So we distracted them and explored the area as we needed to find kindle for our fire.

Where's Zachary?
The boys had a fantastic time playing, and it wasn't hard to loose them under the fine red bull dust.  They were covered from head to toe (Keeping in mind there are only toilet facilities available here).
All Jenni could say, "At least it's not raining".

Robe River
The boys had there bath in the Robe River.  It was crystal clear.  Beautiful!!

Exmouth

Surrogate family reunion with Liam
Having just returned from Cape Range National Park, we received a text message that our surrogate family that we first met in Ceduna, then Kalgoorlie, have just set up in Exmouth, Ningaloo Lighthouse Caravan Park.  I don't know who was more excited.  Jacob or Jenni!!!!

Cape Range National Park, Osprey Bay

Bloodwood creek

Mandu Mandu Gorge

Dry river bed
We commenced our Mandu Mandu Gorge walk, also a class 4 walking track.  Zachary managed to walk  30 minutes along the dry river bed.  That was enough for him.  So I walked back with Zachary along the dry river bed, back to the car, and left Steven and Jacob to continue on.

Mandu Mandu Gorge
Just on the photos left, is the walking trail, and in the background you can just see the dry river bed and then left of the gorge is the Indian Ocean in the way off distance.

Steep climb

Sure footed all the way!!!

Mandu Mandu Gorge is a two hour walking track
Jacob and Steven saw three wild goats whilst walking the Mandu Mandu Gorge.  Jacob heard the goats first then asked Dad what that noise was.  They then spotted the goats in the far off distance.

The afternoon was spent swimming at Osprey Bay with the local turtle and dolphins in the background.

Offered guest afternoon drinks

The afternoon was spent at the National Park's host campsite.  Approximately twenty people joined in for drinks and nibblies.  Three of the campers were ~25 yo men that fished all day with there boat and then arrived in the afternoon offering fresh fish caught less than two hours ago. How lucky were we!

Cape Range National Park, Osprey Bay

Yardie Creek
We spent the morning swimming at Osprey Bay.  After the boys had a rest we drove down to Yardie Creek hoping to get in another swim at the creek.  Once there, we noticed a walking track, and in good Aussie spirit, our dress code; swimmers and thongs.  We walked a class 4 walking track through the gorge.

We were given one week old oranges, freshly picked from our neighbouring camper, Joe (75 yo).  He picked them from his sons orchard.
