The Richardson's Adventures

Our holiday to Western Australia was initiated from the idea of taking our boys on a extended holiday prior to starting school. We have been camping in tent's, and more recently we had a camper trailer for 3 years. While the camper trailer served us well ( over 30 camping trips ), we have upgraded to our off road caravan. The caravan makes life easier for the overnight stay, quick pack up, and it also has air conditioning. Our holidays have been booked for 2 1/2 years and we have been planning in some sort of fashion since. We have upgraded the car to give hassle free motoring, not to mention the great V8 rumble.

Windy Harbour

Great climbing tree
After setting up camp which you can see in the background, the boys were quick to spot a great climbing tree.  Windy Harbour is a beautiful seaside fishing settlement with lots of "workers cottage" style homes.

Cathedral Rock
This is D'Entrecasteaux National Park which is Western Australia's equivalence to Victoria's Great Ocean Road.

Limestone sea cliffs
Limestone sea cliffs towers 85 metres above the Southern Ocean.  The beach nearest Jacob (in the background) is known as Salmon Beach.  In April you can see schools of salmon and pods of dolphins.  You can also see whales, which we never saw any of the above.

Open fire
Windy Harbour also has great open fire facilities.  After exploring the day at D'Entrecasteaux National Park, Steven and the boys collected the wood and they made a fire.  The wood chips was included in your camp stay.  We cooked our dinner on the bar-b-que plate.  The boys had toasted marshmallows on a stick for dessert, much to their taste buds delight.
