The Richardson's Adventures

Our holiday to Western Australia was initiated from the idea of taking our boys on a extended holiday prior to starting school. We have been camping in tent's, and more recently we had a camper trailer for 3 years. While the camper trailer served us well ( over 30 camping trips ), we have upgraded to our off road caravan. The caravan makes life easier for the overnight stay, quick pack up, and it also has air conditioning. Our holidays have been booked for 2 1/2 years and we have been planning in some sort of fashion since. We have upgraded the car to give hassle free motoring, not to mention the great V8 rumble.

Cape Range National Park, Osprey Bay

Bloodwood creek

Mandu Mandu Gorge

Dry river bed
We commenced our Mandu Mandu Gorge walk, also a class 4 walking track.  Zachary managed to walk  30 minutes along the dry river bed.  That was enough for him.  So I walked back with Zachary along the dry river bed, back to the car, and left Steven and Jacob to continue on.

Mandu Mandu Gorge
Just on the photos left, is the walking trail, and in the background you can just see the dry river bed and then left of the gorge is the Indian Ocean in the way off distance.

Steep climb

Sure footed all the way!!!

Mandu Mandu Gorge is a two hour walking track
Jacob and Steven saw three wild goats whilst walking the Mandu Mandu Gorge.  Jacob heard the goats first then asked Dad what that noise was.  They then spotted the goats in the far off distance.

The afternoon was spent swimming at Osprey Bay with the local turtle and dolphins in the background.

Offered guest afternoon drinks

The afternoon was spent at the National Park's host campsite.  Approximately twenty people joined in for drinks and nibblies.  Three of the campers were ~25 yo men that fished all day with there boat and then arrived in the afternoon offering fresh fish caught less than two hours ago. How lucky were we!

  1. Jacob looks very sure footed being a mountain climber. It looks strange to have a river rocks and no water. It must have been a big walk for Jacob. Looks like Zachary has been doing some touch play with the rip in the knee of his jeans. To have your own private beach with your caravan in the background must have been fantastic. The water looks so clear and to have been swimming with the dolphins and turtles must have been exciting. I looked like a nice piece of coral you have in your hand Jacob. It was very neighbourly of you to invite the kangaroo in for a drink. How great to have fresh fish for tea. What happened to Steven and the boys catching fish for a meal???
